Summer 2016

Below are some of  the activities we did when I had a camera.   Lisa is such a good little player and she has been so fun to watch.

Of course Eric's favorite sport is football and he gets an obscene amount of attention for playing it.  I know I did not post a lot of football pictures on here last year, but I will starting next week.

At the school play all the kids had to dress up in these ridiculous ponchos.  Somehow Eric and his friend received the main part and wore their football uniforms.

Eric 2016 All-Stars.  I coached Eric's team and it was fun.

Lisa performed a solo to the song "Footloose" in her 80's program with the glee club.  She did great and I thought was the best performance that night.  She is so awesome!

Lisa- wax museum as Sybil Ludington.  If I can find the video I will post it.

Lisa and Eric helped me put together this grill.  Half way through I got stuck for a moment and asked Lisa to take a look at the instructions.  She successfully read through the steps, so I had her read 1 step ahead of me and we put the grill together in record time!

Miller Sports Park 2016.  This was such a fun year.  I'm sad that is over.  This was our first spring and summer for doing softball and it was fun.  We met a lot of new people and made a lot of friends.  They improved so much over the season.  I always get sad when one of the kid's seasons is over.  But then in the blink of an eye, a new season starts.  Hello Farmington Eagles! and Hello Sting!

David

This year has been a fun year in baseball.

I really have not watched David play this year because I have been busy with the other kids.  He struck out a lot during the season so I worked with him everyday for a week before the end of season tournament.  The first day I started working with him he was difficult, which is why I never worked with him during the year.  By the end of  the week right before the tournament he figured out he was getting better and that I was only trying to help him so he was more receptive and wanted help.  He never struck out during the tournament and had some awesome hits.

He also really likes his friends on the team.

The  Tournament was 6/14/2016 through 6/17/2016.

                                                              Double header Championship game 6/17/2016
                                  David's Team won the tournament.

David was already good friends with Thurber (from Eric's team last year and this year) and Curtis from the neighborhood.  On Thursday David and Evan spent the whole day swimming together in his pool.
David's assistant coach congratulating him.

David running the bases.  He scored a lot this week.

Cardinals

Eric and Lisa are both playing on the on the Cardinals this year.  Coach Burt is awesome with the kids.  This team had great chemistry, or maybe it's because as they get older all the flunkie kids and parents quit playing.   They all get along pretty well.  Burt is also the football coach for the kids a year older than Eric.  That will be good for the future.

This was the funniest thing.  I'm glad I got a picture of it.  Lisa (P) and Eric (1B) making plans in between innings.

David playing on Yankees team.  He is more about talking with the other kids than about playing ball.  We had one of the parents take David to a game and she remarked  "How does David know every kid at the park?"  He does know a lot of people his age and he also knows a lot of siblings from Lisa and Eric.

Can't remember who we played this day but Lisa struck out 5/6 batters.  She throws a lot of strikes.

The kids have been playing a lot of baseball.  It sure is fun watching them play.  Today Lisa received a game ball for pitching a great game in Sandy against West Bountiful.  Coach Eric is so good with the kids.  Both Lisa and Eric made things happen.  They are fun to watch.

Eric throwing the ball back to the pitcher after laying a tag on the runner at third. Eric asked Coach Eric if he could pitch.  The coach answered " Why would I have you pitch when I have a witch on third!"  Now Eric goes around telling everyone he is the Witch on Third.

Eric playing third.  He more than holds his own against all these older kids,

Lisa playing second base against Sandy.

We had to celebrate at Famous Dave's after such a good performance.

Memorial Day

Between baseball, basketball, and football, most of our Saturdays are booked.  So on Memorial day we decided to split.

David building a fort

David having a conversation with Daisey

Roasting hot dogs

We shot the .22 bolt action and .22 pump action a lot this day. Wendy shot her XDS.

Lisa likes to dress up the dog

Lisa at LOOKOUT PASS

The hike was very pretty

David and Daisey have a bond.  It's funny to watch them- Daisey mostly obeys him even though she is twice his size.  It is especially funny when we go on a walk and David takes the leash.  If Daisey wanted to she could pull the leash and drag David down the street.  But she lets him be in charge.

Dad and Lisa

We hiked for six hours the canyon with some friends.

Rant

I have not been on a rant for a while.  I don't know if I want to post negative Scott but I guess I will because I'm bugged.  I was at Lisa and Eric's baseball game and the opposing coach comes up to me and basically goes on about how good Lisa is.  Well what about Eric?  He blasted a line drive between left field and center field.  His on base percentage was 1000.  He had a great game.  I know he meant well and he is a nice guy, but it just bugged me. Lisa gets a lot of attention because she is so good.  Same thing with school.  Eric gets attention because he is so smart.  Well, guess what.  All my kids are smart.  Lisa's reading and comprehension tested out at a high-school level.  I don't like one kid receiving praise and not the others.

1 week after Presidents day.  This was a fun trip.  All our trips are fun.  I guess I should be more descriptive.  Our kids are tough and did all the hikes.  I did not know when the day would come but it is now almost official-  my kids can now out do me.  (they don't know it yet but I was having a hard time keeping up with them) at times at Angels Landing.  I'm going to have to go to riding bikes because I can still out perform them.  Last year in the back yard Eric started giving his old man a hard time when I was teaching them some bating tips, and Lisa started to pile on, so I got up and hit two shots at least 350 feet.  They were impressed.  That shut them up for a year and they listened to me.  It won't be long before they can beat me in all their little contests.

This hike was funny because the other hikers thought David was cute and funny.  We was talking non stop all the way up this hike about Minecraft.  Me, I had no idea what he was talking about.
